Cooking, Bak­ing Classes At KEY

Kipuka Cafe will con­duct two six-week cour­ses in kitchen and bak­ing Skills be­gin­ning Feb. 9 at KEY Project.

The sep­a­rate classes, listed be­low, are avail­able to peo­ple age 18 and older and will em­pha­size food safety and san­i­ta­tion, taught by ex­pe­ri­enced, pro­fes­sional chefs:

• “An In­tro­duc­tion to Fun­da­men­tal Kitchen Skills” with Chef Ken Weir from 8 a.m. to noon Mon­days and Wed­nes­days;

• “An In­tro­duc­tion to Fun­da­men­tal Bak­ing Skills” with Chef Richard Wag­ner from noon to 4 p. m. Tues­days and Thurs­days.

Stu­dents may sign up for both, but en­roll­ment is limited to six stu­dents in each one, and a TB clear­ance is re­quired prior to the start of class. Fee is $25 for one class, $35 for both. Cer­tifi­cates of com­ple­tion will be awarded to qual­i­fied stu­dents.

To demon­strate their new skills, stu­dents will help plan, pre­pare and im­ple­ment a KEY Pro­ject­spon­sored food event.
