Help For Waikalua Fish­pond

Work to re­store Ka­neohe’s wa­ter­shed and cul­tural sites is never done, and it will con­tinue with a “La Hana” from 8 a.m. to noon Satur­day at Waikalua Loko Fish­pond.

Waikalua Loko Fish­pond Preser­va­tion So­ci­ety has been work­ing to pre­serve the fish­pond since 1995, with vol­un­teers be­ing key to that ef­fort. Help is needed to re­move in­va­sive limu and re­pair the kuapa (rock wall), as well as to set up and di­rect park­ing. At­ten­dees also will get a light lunch and a tour of the pond.

Fam­ily, friends, school and com­mu­nity groups are wel­come to help, but pre-reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired to An­drea Jep­son at 263-8202 or jep­ Bring old cloth­ing and shoes, gloves, sun­screen and a re­us­able wa­ter bot­tle.

Fu­ture work­days will be April 18, June 20, Sept. 12 and Nov. 14. (La Hana means “com­mu­nity work­day.”)
