Read­ers To Stage ‘Irena’s Vow’

Wind­ward Read­ers Theatre con­tin­ues its trib­ute to World War II with a pro­duc­tion of Irena’s Vow in Po­hai Nani au­di­to­rium.

Irena’s Vow tells the story of Pol­ish nurse Irena Gut, who saved a dozen Jews from Nazis dur­ing the war by hid­ing them in the house of a Ger­man army ma­jor. Vanita Rae Smith di­rects the play by Dan Gor­don, with dra­matic read­ers Shari Lynn, Jim Tharp, Lorna Mount, Stu Hi­rayama and Mar­jorie DeSan­tis.

Show­times are 7 p.m. March 3 and 5, and 2 p.m. March 8. Ad­mis­sion is free, but dona­tions are en­cour­aged to cover roy­alty charges. The play is spon­sored by Hui o Po­hai Nani and pre­sented by the Hui En­ter­tain­ment Com­mit­tee.
