STEM Sem­i­nar Aimed At Girls

What do choco­late, in­ter­view skills and ed­i­ble plas­tic have in com­mon? All are sem­i­nar top­ics at Amer­i­can As­so­ci­a­tion of Uni­ver­sity Women’s Tech Savvy con­fer­ence, to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Satur­day at Wind­ward Com­mu­nity Col­lege’s Hale Akoakoa.

The STEM-ori­ented event is in­tended for girls in grades 6-9, with hands-on work­shops in math, science, en­gi­neer­ing and tech­nol­ogy-re­lated fields, and in­struc­tion in life skills like lead­er­ship, crit­i­cal think­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tion.

Adults can at­tend a pre­sen­ta­tion on the value of STEM ca­reers and learn more about pre­par­ing girls for col­lege.
