Nygren’s daughter may face charges
GREEN BAY - The drug overdose death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child led to the arrest of a legislator’s daughter and her fiancé.
Cassandra Nygren, 28, daughter of state Rep. John Nygren (R-Marinette), and Shawn M. Gray, 33, provided the drug that led to the June 2 death of Jennifer L. Skeen, 31, Brown County Chief Deputy Todd Delain said Thursday.
Police and rescue squads arrived about 4:30 p.m. to the home on S. Webster Ave. in Allouez to discover Skeen dead, Delain said.
An autopsy and lab tests revealed Skeen died of a Fentanyl overdose. The drug is an additive to heroin but is much stronger.
An investigation over the following few months led to Nygren and Gray, and undercover
agents conducted a controlled buy of heroin from them, Delain said.
Deputies tried to arrest them Tuesday, but, with Gray at the wheel and Nygren with her 14month-old daughter, the suspects fled, Delain said. Deputies broke off the chase for safety reasons but arrested them near the car shortly afterward.
Nygren is facing possible charges of two counts of first-degree reckless homicide-deliver drugs, delivery of heroin, child neglect and maintaining a drug trafficking place. She also faces a handful of possession charges.
