Brookfield Central players earn all-state honors
This is a big week for Brookfield Central.
On Friday the Lancers football team plays in its first state final in 11 years. On Monday two of its best players received first-team all-state recognition from the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association.
Defensive lineman Blake Fehrmann and outside linebacker Reggie Jennings, two seniors, were among a number of area players chosen to the first team. They are, however, the only first-team picks from the area who also are playing in a state final.
Central faces Waunakee in the Division 2 championship game at 1 p.m. Friday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
Jennings, a Northern Illinois recruit, is a repeat selection. The only other area players with that distinction is Catholic Memorial senior linebacker C.J. Goetz, a Wisconsin recruit.
Kimberly swept the major awards. Senior running back D.J. Stewart was named offensive player of the year. Defensive lineman Boyd Dietzen, a senior committed to Wisconsin, was named defensive player of the year.
Brookfield East’s Jim Jacobsen was chosen as the assistant coach of the year.
