End the endless election cycle

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - - Opinions -

One reason very little seems to get done in the way of legislation in America is because most junior politicians are continually in “reelection mode.”

I’m referring to our representatives in the lower house of Congress. They are up for election every two years and only seem to get meaningful things done in year one, if then. The next year is spent looking for money to get re-elected.

I think it’s time to change that to a four-year term and to make that happen in the middle of the presidential election cycle. More time could be spent getting the business of America in order and less time looking to get re-elected.
