Heat could turn dangerous across southern Wisconsin this weekend
The predicted warm-up across southern Wisconsin this weekend could get a little too hot, forecasters at the National Weather Service are warning.
“Confidence is increasing that hot temperatures and potentially dangerous heat indices will impact southern Wisconsin this weekend,” according to a situation report issued early Wednesday by the weather service office in Sullivan.
“Temperatures will climb into the 90s this weekend, with heat indices approaching or exceeding 100,” according to the statement.
“Lake Michigan will limit lakeside temps to the upper 80s on Saturday, but even lakeside areas may reach into the mid-90s on Sunday,” according to the statement.
On Sunday, heat indices — the combination of high temperatures and humid conditions — could top 101 degrees in Milwaukee and Madison.
The hot conditions could linger into Monday.
