RETAIL: Sears Holdings to close Cudahy Kmart store
The Kmart store in Cudahy, the troubled brand’s last outpost in Milwaukee County, will close in February, parent company Sears Holdings said Thursday. The closing of the location, 6077 S. Packard Ave., is part of the latest wave of store closings by Sears Holdings as it trims its portfolio in an effort to restructure its finances in bankruptcy court. The company said 39 other stores also will close in February, including the Sears in Janesville. Liquidation sales at the locations are expected to begin late next week. Sears previously announced the closing of 142 unprofitable stores to be completed by the end of 2018.
