SAND AND CUT
When it comes to making straight cuts in sheets of balsa or plywood, you need a straightedge to guide your knife. If you use a steel ruler, it can slip and the blade will damage your pieces. But you can use a Great Planes Bar Sander for double duty. When pressed down on the piece of wood you want to cut, the sandpaper will help prevent the bar from shifting while you cut. When the part is cut through, you can use it for its original intent: to sand the edges of the wood smooth.
