It wasn’t all fixed-wing fun at the event, as Heraldo Boldrin showed off his impressive 1/5-scale Bell 429 helicopter. The Bell 429 GlobalRanger is a light, twin-engine helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter and Korea Aerospace Industries, based on the Bell 427. Heraldo built his turbine-powered 429 from the Vario kit and has it equipped with a Jakadofsky PRO 5000 turbine, servos from MKS Servos, along with the Vario 429/22 dome mechanics. Just under 90 inches in length, Heraldo’s heli has a rotor diameter of 7 feet and weighs 49 pounds. With 28 years of RC modeling experience, including helicopters, gliders, and turbine jets, Heraldo is a member of Equipe Verde Amarelo club, which promotes RC jet activities in Brazil and abroad. He calls Araras, São Paulo, home.
