It wasn’t all fixed-wing fun at the event, as Her­aldo Boldrin showed off his im­pres­sive 1/5-scale Bell 429 he­li­copter. The Bell 429 Glob­alRanger is a light, twin-en­gine he­li­copter de­vel­oped by Bell He­li­copter and Korea Aero­space In­dus­tries, based on the Bell 427. Her­aldo built his tur­bine-pow­ered 429 from the Vario kit and has it equipped with a Jakad­of­sky PRO 5000 tur­bine, ser­vos from MKS Ser­vos, along with the Vario 429/22 dome me­chan­ics. Just un­der 90 inches in length, Her­aldo’s heli has a ro­tor di­am­e­ter of 7 feet and weighs 49 pounds. With 28 years of RC mod­el­ing ex­pe­ri­ence, in­clud­ing he­li­copters, glid­ers, and tur­bine jets, Her­aldo is a mem­ber of Equipe Verde Amarelo club, which pro­motes RC jet ac­tiv­i­ties in Brazil and abroad. He calls Araras, São Paulo, home.
