Songbird Cessna 310

Model Airplane News - - AIRWAVES -

I am building a Songbird from the plans designed by Rich Uravitch. I love this airplane, but I have tried for over a month to figure out the placement of the F3A fuselage former. I am hoping that you could give me some assistance. Thanks.—Gene Aughtry, via email

Hi, Gene. Longtime contributor Rich Uravitch has designed and flown a lot of RC airplanes, and his Songbird Cessna 310 is one of the more popular sets from Model Airplane News. We checked with Rich, and he commented that the F3A former can be discarded. It was part of the prototype build before he decided to offer the clear molded cabin that forms the removable hatch for battery access. The hatch arrangement was shown in the construction article and a photo appears directly on the plan sheet toward the right-hand side. If the molded hatch is employed, two of the formers may be cut off at the upper edge of the fuselage side. I hope this helps.—GY
