CARBON “COPY” CUB

-

The Cubcrafters’ CC11-160 Carbon Cub SS is a certified light-sport aircraft based on the iconic Piper Cub. It is modernized, with light-weight carbon fiber components and a 180hp engine. The Carbon Cub SS features a carbon-fiber spinner and a more modern engine cowl with an air-induction scoop design. The carbon engine cowling weighs only six pounds and the Carbon Cub weighs 300 pounds less than a stock Piper Super Cub. The fuselage utilizes classic welded 4130 tube steel construction and fabric covering. For improved low-speed flight control, the wings are fitted with vortex generators. To improve the already impressive power-toweight ratio of the Carbon Cub, some models use a partial color scheme on a silver base coat paint job, which saves an additional 11 pounds compared to an overall color paint job.

The CC340 engine is a Lycoming O-320 based engine developed with ECi using dual electronic ignition and ECi O-320 cylinders. The engine is rated at 5 gallons per hour at the 80hp cruise setting.

DIY CARBON CUB EX

For those who want to build their own Carbon Cub, Cubcrafters also offers a complete kit-built package. The components in the kit are fabricated on CNC mills and routers.

The parts are precise and consistent and you never have to trim, modify, or finesse the parts to fit. The builder can open the crate and immediately go to work building their airplane. Though the quality and performance of the EX is unmatched, the cost to build the EX compares favorably to the competition. The kit includes every part needed to finish the airplane, including the engine, propeller, and instrument panel, if you like. Builders do not have to spend time shopping for hardware and materials that can easily add $50,000 or more to other kits.
