CMS releases Medicare Part B data on Web site
The CMS released data on the Medicare Part B program under a White House push for greater transparency. In an early December memo to executive departments and agencies, the Obama administration directed agencies to post online three sets of data that can be used to hold agencies accountable or further their mission, promote the economy or help the public understand agencies’ operations. The data were to be posted within 45 days of the Obama administration’s Dec. 8, 2009, directive. The data.gov Web site lists 85 data sets from the CMS, including raw Medicare cost report data and performance and quality comparisons for hospitals and health plans.
