No deterrence ...
Ifrankly do not think that Scott Brown’s win will in any way deter the current presidential administration from its drive to force this healthcare bill down Americans’ collective and individual throats (“Republican wins Senate seat in Massachusetts,” ModernHealthcare.com, Jan. 19). Yet I am confident that this bill, even if it becomes law, will not stand.
It violates the 14th Amendment’s clear directive that no state may “deprive any person of life, liberty or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” It tells the people of Nebraska that they have privileges the people of other states do not.
It tells people with “Cadillac” insurance plans, but no union card, that they will be subject to taxes that organized labor, with similar or even identical plans, will not be subject to. Votes for it were gained by chicanery and by insolent dispersal of taxpayer money for partisan reasons.
