Ifrankly do not think that Scott Brown’s win will in any way de­ter the cur­rent pres­i­den­tial ad­min­is­tra­tion from its drive to force this health­care bill down Amer­i­cans’ col­lec­tive and in­di­vid­ual throats (“Repub­li­can wins Se­nate seat in Mas­sachusetts,” Mod­ern­Health­care.com, Jan. 19). Yet I am con­fi­dent that this bill, even if it be­comes law, will not stand.

It vi­o­lates the 14th Amend­ment’s clear di­rec­tive that no state may “de­prive any per­son of life, lib­erty or prop­erty, without due process of law; nor deny to any per­son within its ju­ris­dic­tion the equal pro­tec­tion of the laws.” It tells the peo­ple of Ne­braska that they have priv­i­leges the peo­ple of other states do not.

It tells peo­ple with “Cadil­lac” in­sur­ance plans, but no union card, that they will be sub­ject to taxes that organized la­bor, with sim­i­lar or even iden­ti­cal plans, will not be sub­ject to. Votes for it were gained by chi­canery and by in­so­lent dis­per­sal of tax­payer money for par­ti­san rea­sons.
