Sur­vey of Ex­ec­u­tive Opin­ions on Key In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy Is­sues.

The sur­vey was con­ducted on­line be­tween Nov. 23, 2009, and Jan. 15, 2010. This year, ex­ec­u­tives from 245 el­i­gi­ble provider or­ga­ni­za­tions par­tic­i­pated.

Re­spon­dents in­cluded chief in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cers (29%), CEOs (25%), chief fi­nan­cial of­fi­cers (9%), chief med­i­cal of­fi­cers (7%), chief med­i­cal in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cers (3%), chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cers (2%) and chief tech­nol­ogy of­fi­cers (1%). The re­main­ing 23% held other ti­tles. All num­bers are rounded.

Most com­monly, re­spon­dents re­ported they work in gen­eral/acute-care hos­pi­tals (42%), while oth­ers were from mul­ti­hos­pi­tal sys­tems and in­te­grated de­liv­ery net­works (29%), aca­demic med­i­cal cen­ters (8%), spe­cialty hos­pi­tals (2%), chil­dren’s hos­pi­tals (1%), psy­chi­atric/be­hav­ior-health hos­pi­tals (1%), re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion hos­pi­tals (1%), hospice, nurs­ing homes and other longterm-care fa­cil­i­ties (2%), and med­i­cal group prac­tices and clin­ics (14%).
