A little snip here, a lot of dribble there
Although the promotion so far has resulted in more calls from reporters than prospective patients, Tony Mammen at 21st Century Urology in Orland Park, Ill., says he’s pleased with the response to his practice’s promotion to schedule vasectomies March 18-19 and March 25-26—the first and Sweet 16 rounds of March Madness, aka the NCAA basketball tournament.
“I’m confident we’ll make it an annual event,” Mammen says, explaining that the practice is taking the promotion seriously and that the extended television viewing required to take in the 65-team NCAA tournament is tailor-made for vasectomy recovery.
“You can just plant yourself on a couch for days on end,” Mammen says. “We tell patients, ‘You really want to take it easy.’ ”
To help facilitate the couch-sitting, 21st Century is providing patients with vouchers for free pizzas and bags of frozen peas to use as ice packs.
