White ex­it­ing Ia­sis; Means re­tir­ing from Health First

Two long­time hos­pi­tal sys­tem CEOs an­nounced their re­tire­ments. David White will re­tire at the end of the year as CEO of Ia­sis Health­care, a 16-hos­pi­tal, for-profit com­pany based in Franklin, Tenn., ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease. And Michael Means, pres­i­dent and CEO of two-- hos­pi­tal, not-for-profit sys­tem Health First, Rock­ledge, Fla., also an­nounced plans to re­tire in De­cem­ber 2011, ac­cord­ing to a re­lease. White, 62, will step down as CEO, but re­tain his role as chair­man of the sys­tem’s board of di­rec­tors. W. Carl Whit­mer, 45, chief fi­nan­cial of­fi­cer of Ia­sis since 2001, has been named pres­i­dent and will as­sume the role of CEO later this year. Whit­mer joins the Ia­sis board of di­rec­tors, as will Ia­sis Chief Op­er­at­ing Of­fi­cer San­dra McRee, 54, who be­comes board vice chair­woman. In Florida, Means’ re­tire­ment trig­gers a 20month suc­ces­sion plan­ning process that will end with his ex­it­ing the sys­tem at the end of next year. Age for Means was not avail­able at dead­line.
