S everal issues in this article require clarification (“MinuteClinic, CHW team up in Phoenix area,” ModernHealthcare.com, May 1). First, Arizona nurse practitioners are independent with prescriptive authority and always have been. Formalized collaboration is not a legal mandate. MinuteClinic has chosen to use this as their model of practice. Second, there is absolutely no evidence that nurse practitioner care is dangerous or unsafe.

All of the studies to date document safe, high-quality, cost-effective, accessible care provided by nurse practitioners nationwide. There is no place for uninformed, opinionbased rhetoric in today’s healthcare world.
