Knight set to step down as Scott & White CEO

Al­fred Knight, pres­i­dent and CEO of Scott & White Health­care in Tem­ple, Texas, will re­tire in 2011 and be­come pres­i­dent of the Scott & White Health­care Foun­da­tion, the hos­pi­tal and clinic sys­tem’s phil­an­thropic or­ga­ni­za­tion. Robert Pryor, chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer and chief med­i­cal of­fi­cer, will suc­ceed Knight, 64, as pres­i­dent and CEO. Knight ranked No. 30 on Mod­ern Physi­cian’s 2010 rank­ing of the 50 Most Pow­er­ful Physi­cian Ex­ec­u­tives. He joined Scott & White Health­care in 1986 as a mem­ber of its ob­stet­rics and gy­ne­col­ogy depart­ment. In 2000, he was named pres­i­dent and CEO of Scott & White Me­mo­rial Hos­pi­tal; the Scott, Sher­wood and Brind­ley Foun­da­tion; and Scott & White Clinic. He is also pres­i­dent of the Scott & White Health Plan. All of those re­spon­si­bil­i­ties will be as­sumed by Pryor, 59, who has served as CMO at Scott & White since 2005 and as COO since 2007.
