Two top ex­ec­u­tives are leav­ing posts at Hospira

Hospira, Lake For­est, Ill., a spe­cialty phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals and med­i­ca­tion de­liv­ery com­pany, will lose two of its top ex­ec­u­tives to re­tire­ment. Ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease, Christo­pher Begley, 58, Hospira’s found­ing chair­man and CEO, has an­nounced plans to step down from his CEO post as soon as a re­place­ment is se­lected. Begley will con­tinue as the com­pany’s chair­man. A search com­mit­tee has been formed to se­lect a re­place­ment for Begley. Ad­di­tion­ally, Hospira’s chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer, Ter­rence Kear­ney, 55, has an­nounced he will re­tire his post by year-end. His du­ties will be taken over by James Hardy, who is cur­rently cor­po­rate vice pres­i­dent of sup­ply chain for Hospira. Hardy will be pro­moted to se­nior vice pres­i­dent of op­er­a­tions, ef­fec­tive Dec. 31. Begley and Kear­ney have held their cur­rent po­si­tions since Hospira’s 2004 spinoff from Abbott Lab­o­ra­to­ries.
