Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts’ board of directors selected Andrew Dreyfus, executive VP of healthcare services for the company, to become the insurer’s new president and CEO. The appointment is effective Sept. 7, according to a news release. Dreyfus, 51, who has been with the company since 2001, replaces interim President and CEO Bill Van Faasen. Van Faasen has served in that role since March when former President and CEO Cleve Killingsworth resigned following financial results showing the company lost $149 million during fiscal 2009. Van Faasen will remain with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts in an as yet unnamed capacity. Van Faasen’s age could not be obtained by deadline.
