Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mas­sachusetts’ board of di­rec­tors se­lected An­drew Drey­fus, ex­ec­u­tive VP of health­care ser­vices for the com­pany, to be­come the in­surer’s new pres­i­dent and CEO. The ap­point­ment is ef­fec­tive Sept. 7, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease. Drey­fus, 51, who has been with the com­pany since 2001, re­places in­terim Pres­i­dent and CEO Bill Van Faasen. Van Faasen has served in that role since March when for­mer Pres­i­dent and CEO Cleve Killingsworth re­signed fol­low­ing fi­nan­cial re­sults show­ing the com­pany lost $149 mil­lion dur­ing fis­cal 2009. Van Faasen will re­main with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mas­sachusetts in an as yet un­named ca­pac­ity. Van Faasen’s age could not be ob­tained by dead­line.
