$30 mil­lion gift helps launch Har­vard pri­mary-care cen­ter

Har­vard Med­i­cal School is us­ing a $30 mil­lion phil­an­thropic gift to es­tab­lish a new Cen­ter for Pri­mary Care, which will fo­cus on re­search­ing ways to im­prove pri­mary-care ed­u­ca­tion, re­search and de­liv­ery sys­tems. The cen­ter’s di­rec­tor will hold a new en­dowed chair at the Bos­ton med­i­cal school, based in the school’s de­part­ments of health­care pol­icy, global health and so­cial medicine. The cen­ter will work to at­tract global ex­perts for sym­po­siums and col­lab­o­ra­tion, and pro­mote ac­tive dis­course among Har­vard-af­fil­i­ated teach­ing hos­pi­tals and re­lated com­mu­nity-based sites, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.
