Robert Van Hook has been named in­terim CEO for the Washington-based As­so­ci­a­tion for Pro­fes­sion­als in In­fec­tion Con­trol and Epi­demi­ol­ogy. He started Oct. 18 and won’t be con­sid­ered as a can­di­date for a per­ma­nent po­si­tion, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease. Van Hook re­places Kathy Warye, 51, who an­nounced in Au­gust that she would step down from the CEO po­si­tion that she has held since 2004. Van Hook, 66, has served as an in­terim ex­ec­u­tive for a di­verse list of as­so­ci­a­tions, in­clud­ing health­care-re­lated or­ga­ni­za­tions such as the Washington Cen­ter for Psy­cho­an­a­lysts, Cen­ter for Amer­i­can Nurses, As­so­ci­a­tion for Health­care Phi­lan­thropy, Amer­i­can Nurses Cre­den­tial­ing Cen­ter, So­ci­ety of Vas­cu­lar Technology and So­ci­ety of In­ter­ven­tional Ra­di­ol­ogy, ac­cord­ing to the web­site for Tran­si­tion Man­age­ment Con­sult­ing, which Van Hook co-founded in 2000. ... Glen Stream was cho­sen to be the new pres­i­den­t­elect of the 94,700-mem­ber Amer­i­can Academy of Fam­ily Physi­cians. Stream, 54, is the chief med­i­cal in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cer at the Rock­wood Clinic, a mul­ti­spe­cialty prac­tice in Spokane, Wash., where he has worked since 1991. Other new AAFP of­fi­cers in­clude Roland Go­ertz, 55, as­sum­ing the role of pres­i­dent, and im­me­di­ate past pres­i­dent Lori Heim, also 55, tak­ing over as board chair.
