Cardiac care has improved steadily over the years, but some hospitals continue to find ways to climb even higher.
A closer look at some organizations on this year’s list of the top cardiovascular hospitals compiled by Thomson Reuters shows how they’re doing it.
At Venice (Fla.) Regional Medical Center, for example, two cardiac surgeons have emphasized standardization of their practices, which has led to increased familiarity among other caregivers, especially operating room nurses. It’s credited with improving surgical outcomes, helping to place the 274-bed hospital on Thomson Reuters’ list of the top-performing heart hospitals for the fifth straight year.
