Renal-care provider DaVita has announced plans to acquire Nashvillebased DSI Renal for $690 million. The two parties have entered into a definitive agreement, according to a DaVita news release, and the transaction is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2011. DSI Renal operates 108 dialysis centers across the country and has annual revenue of roughly $360 million. “This acquisition introduces us to several new geographies and makes us a moreeffective competitor in selected areas,” Kent Thiry, chairman and CEO of DaVita, said in the release. “Through this acquisition, we will be able to bring the broader line of DaVita chronic kidneydisease services to DSI patients.” The companies said terms of the deal may change slightly based on adjustments.
