Sur­vey of Ex­ec­u­tive Opin­ions on Key In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy Is­sues.

The sur­vey was con­ducted from Nov. 22, 2010, through Jan. 19. Ex­ec­u­tives from 149 el­i­gi­ble provider or­ga­ni­za­tions par­tic­i­pated.

Re­spon­dents in­cluded chief in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cers (25% of the to­tal), CEOs (24%), chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cers (9%), chief med­i­cal in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cers (7%), chief fi­nan­cial of­fi­cers (6%) and chief med­i­cal of­fi­cers (5%). The other 23% held other ti­tles.

Lead­ers of mul­ti­hos­pi­tal sys­tems or in­te­grated health net­works con­sti­tute the largest class of or­ga­ni­za­tions in the sur­vey at 40% of par­tic­i­pants, fol­lowed by gen­eral acute-care hos­pi­tals (32%); med­i­cal groups or clin­ics (14%); aca­demic med­i­cal cen­ters (6%), chil­dren’s hos­pi­tals (2%), and nurs­ing homes or long-term acute-care hos­pi­tals (2%). The re­main­ing 4% of re­spon­dents rep­re­sent other cat­e­gories.
