Opt-in is good
Re: “Researchers: EHR data valuable in genetics studies,” ModernHealth care.com, April 25: I like the idea that the patient “opts in” to be studied, with the study database pointing to the EHR patient database.
That shows a lot more respect for patients’ rights than is shown by the drug companies in the Vermont case, who would essentially strike down privacy—along with states’ rights—in favor of a flimsy “free speech” argument and the almighty dollar.
