Exec re­vamp at Chris­tus

Chris­tus Health re­struc­tured its up­per man­age­ment, re­sult­ing in eight se­nior man­agers tak­ing new roles, two leav­ing for con­sult­ing po­si­tions with the Irv­ing, Texas-based sys­tem, and one leav­ing its se­nior man­age­ment team.

What was once the se­nior lead­er­ship team has been re­made as the Chris­tus Health ex­ecu- tive coun­cil, a re­struc­tur­ing that came from Ernie Sadau, who took over as pres­i­dent and CEO on March 1, spokes­woman Abby Lowe said. Sadau, 49, wanted to en­sure Chris­tus’ cul­ture was fo­cused on pa­tients and able to move quickly and make de­ci­sions more ef­fec­tively “and re­ally be there for our pa­tients,” she said.

As a re­sult, ef­fec­tive May 2, the coun­cil in­cludes Sadau and sev­eral Chris­tus ex­ec­u­tives:

Dr. John Gil­lean, 59, ex­ec­u­tive vice pres­i­dent and chief clin­i­cal of­fi­cer; pre­vi­ously he was se­nior vice pres­i­dent and chief med­i­cal of­fi­cer.

Jeff Puck­ett, 50, se­nior vice pres­i­dent and chief strat­egy, busi­ness de­vel­op­ment and per­for­mance in­te­gra­tion of­fi­cer; pre­vi­ously he was cor­po­rate vice pres­i­dent of busi­ness de­vel­op­ment, ad­vi­sory ser­vices and man­aged care.

Mary Lynch, 63, se­nior vice pres­i­dent and chief gov­er­nance, spon­sor­ship and mis­sion of­fi­cer; pre­vi­ously she was se­nior vice pres­i­dent of hu­man re­sources.

Gerry Hee­ley, 57, se­nior vice pres­i­dent of mis­sion in­te­gra­tion and lead­er­ship for­ma­tion; pre­vi­ously he was se­nior vice pres­i­dent of mis­sion and ethics.

Linda McClung, 54, se­nior vice pres­i­dent and chief ad­min­is­tra­tive of­fi­cer; pre­vi­ously she was se­nior vice pres­i­dent of non-acute op­er­a­tions, cor­po­rate com­mu­ni­ca­tions and strate­gic mar­ket­ing ser­vices.

Ge­orge Con­klin, 60, who will re­main se­nior vice pres­i­dent and chief in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cer.

An­other mem­ber of the coun­cil will be Gene Woods, 46, who is join­ing Chris­tus on June 1 as ex­ec­u­tive vice pres­i­dent and chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer, from CEO of St. Joseph Health Sys­tem, Lex­ing­ton, Ky. Mod­ern Health­care named Woods as one of the Top 25 Mi­nor­ity Ex­ec­u­tives in Health­care in 2006 and 2008.

Leav­ing Chris­tus for con­sult­ing po­si­tions are Peter Mad­dox, 63, se­nior vice pres­i­dent of busi­ness, strat­egy and cor­po­rate de­vel­op­ment, and Jay Her­ron, 56, se­nior vice pres­i­dent and chief fi­nan­cial of­fi­cer. Paul Gen­erale, 35, who was named vice pres­i­dent and se­nior fi­nan­cial of­fi­cer, will act as in­terim CFO. The new CFO will join the coun­cil. Gen­erale is cur­rently vice pres­i­dent and CFO for Chris­tus St. Vin­cent Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter, Santa Fe, N.M.

John Zip­prich, 63, a for­mer mem­ber of the lead­er­ship team and se­nior vice pres­i­dent of in­ter­na­tional op­er­a­tions, legal and gov­er­nance ser­vices and gen­eral coun­sel, will now serve as se­nior vice pres­i­dent of in­ter­na­tional net­work. Lowe said a new gen­eral coun­sel may be ap­pointed, but a de­ci­sion has not been made.
