Exec revamp at Christus
Christus Health restructured its upper management, resulting in eight senior managers taking new roles, two leaving for consulting positions with the Irving, Texas-based system, and one leaving its senior management team.
What was once the senior leadership team has been remade as the Christus Health execu- tive council, a restructuring that came from Ernie Sadau, who took over as president and CEO on March 1, spokeswoman Abby Lowe said. Sadau, 49, wanted to ensure Christus’ culture was focused on patients and able to move quickly and make decisions more effectively “and really be there for our patients,” she said.
As a result, effective May 2, the council includes Sadau and several Christus executives:
Dr. John Gillean, 59, executive vice president and chief clinical officer; previously he was senior vice president and chief medical officer.
Jeff Puckett, 50, senior vice president and chief strategy, business development and performance integration officer; previously he was corporate vice president of business development, advisory services and managed care.
Mary Lynch, 63, senior vice president and chief governance, sponsorship and mission officer; previously she was senior vice president of human resources.
Gerry Heeley, 57, senior vice president of mission integration and leadership formation; previously he was senior vice president of mission and ethics.
Linda McClung, 54, senior vice president and chief administrative officer; previously she was senior vice president of non-acute operations, corporate communications and strategic marketing services.
George Conklin, 60, who will remain senior vice president and chief information officer.
Another member of the council will be Gene Woods, 46, who is joining Christus on June 1 as executive vice president and chief operating officer, from CEO of St. Joseph Health System, Lexington, Ky. Modern Healthcare named Woods as one of the Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare in 2006 and 2008.
Leaving Christus for consulting positions are Peter Maddox, 63, senior vice president of business, strategy and corporate development, and Jay Herron, 56, senior vice president and chief financial officer. Paul Generale, 35, who was named vice president and senior financial officer, will act as interim CFO. The new CFO will join the council. Generale is currently vice president and CFO for Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, Santa Fe, N.M.
John Zipprich, 63, a former member of the leadership team and senior vice president of international operations, legal and governance services and general counsel, will now serve as senior vice president of international network. Lowe said a new general counsel may be appointed, but a decision has not been made.
Woods as COO will join new council.
