Dr. Ed­ward Miller, dean of the Johns Hop­kins School of Medicine and CEO of Johns Hop­kins Medicine, said he in­tends to re­tire from his post as of June 30, 2012, ac­cord­ing to a letter to em­ploy­ees from Ron­ald Daniels, pres­i­dent of Johns Hop­kins Univer­sity, Bal­ti­more. Daniels said Miller’s ten­ure “has been noth­ing short of ex­tra­or­di­nary” and cred­ited him with over­see­ing con­struc­tion of new hos­pi­tal tow­ers, over­seas ex­pan­sion and a re­design of the medicine school’s cur­ricu­lum that “an­tic­i­pates the fu­ture prac­tice of medicine.” Miller, 68, is an anes­the­si­ol­o­gist who be­came dean, CEO and the univer­sity’s vice pres­i­dent for medicine in 1997 af­ter serv­ing in that ca­pac­ity on an in­terim ba­sis since 1996, ac­cord­ing to the letter. Daniels wrote that he has ap­pointed two cochair­men of the ef­fort to find a suc­ces­sor. Or­dyna as CEO, ef­fec­tive June 1, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease from the hos­pi­tal’s par­ent com­pany, Capella Health­care, Franklin, Tenn. Or­dyna, 38, has been COO of the hos­pi­tal for the past five years. Or­dyna joined the Capella hos­pi­tal af­ter work­ing as cor­po­rate di­rec­tor of de­vel­op­ment for Triad Hos­pi­tals, Plano, Texas. Greg John­ston will suc­ceed Pringle Ram­sey as se­nior VP and CFO of Bap­tist Health Sys­tem, Birm­ing­ham, Ala. John­ston, 51, will as­sume the post July 1, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease from the sys­tem. Ram­sey, 67, has held the role since 2007 and will re­tire at the end of June. John­ston has been with Bap­tist Health for two decades, most re­cently serv­ing as VP of fi­nance. … Craig McCoy be­gan May 16 as CEO of Emory Johns Creek (Ga.) Hos­pi­tal. McCoy, 39, comes to the hos­pi­tal—part of Emory Health­care—from Van­guard Health Sys­tems. He most re­cently was CEO for Van­guard’s Par­adise Val­ley Hos­pi­tal in Phoenix. He re­places John Quin­li­van, who left Johns Creek last fall for a po­si­tion as CEO at Red­mond Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter, an HCA hos­pi­tal in Rome, Ga. HCA pre­vi­ously was a joint-ven­ture part­ner in Johns Creek, and Emory bought its stake last year.
