HHS CIO Michael Carleton plans to retire at the end of July. Carleton was named to the post—which also carries the title of deputy assistant secretary for information technology—in June 2007. He oversees IT use, performance and risk management at HHS, according to his biography on HHS’ website. He also leads IT enterprise architecture, capital planning and investment control.
