Health­care jobs get boost from doc of­fice po­si­tions

A surge in the num­ber of jobs at physi­cian of­fices in Septem­ber boosted the to­tal of 43,800 health­care posts added in the month, ac­cord­ing to pre­lim­i­nary numbers from the U.S. Bureau of La­bor Sta­tis­tics. Physi­cian of­fices added 12,200 jobs in Septem­ber, which rep­re­sents a 0.51% in­crease from the pre­vi­ous month, ac­cord­ing to pre­lim­i­nary find­ings. That’s the first month since Novem­ber 2009 that physi­cian of­fices have cre­ated more than 10,000 jobs. Physi­cian of­fices have added 56,400 jobs over the 12-month pe­riod that ended in Septem­ber for an over­all to­tal of 2.4 mil­lion. Hos­pi­tals added 13,300 jobs in Septem­ber, or a 0.28% in­crease. Hos­pi­tals have added 53,900 jobs dur­ing the pe­riod that ended last month. The to­tal num­ber of hos­pi­tal jobs stands at 4.8 mil­lion. Health­care sec­tor jobs in­creased 0.3% in Septem­ber for a to­tal of 14.2 mil­lion jobs. Dur­ing the 12-month pe­riod ended in Septem­ber, health­care added an av­er­age of 29,500 jobs each month, ac­cord­ing to sea­son­ally-ad­justed fig­ures. The in­dus­try grew by 359,600 jobs for the pe­riod.
