Doctors as scapegoats

Modern Healthcare - - OPINIONS LETTERS -

Concerning physician fees: They contribute very little to healthcare costs. Maybe 10% to 12%. Doctors are not even a blip when it comes to cost. Pharmaceuticals are the major problem that nobody will face. Why? Because that’s where the money is. Most politicians own pharmaceutical stock and will never do something that may affect their bottom line. It is human nature.

Many other issues also exist, but physician fees are irrelevant. It is popular and safe to attack docs. There is no money to make off us so it doesn’t hurt to hurt us. Somebody please speak the truth and take a stand. Without the doctor, you don’t stand much of a chance if you become severely ill. Without a good well-trained, wellpaid doctor, you just take your chances. Dr. Douglas Kane Cookeville, Tenn.
