The panelists were Dr. James Dan, president of the Advocate Medical Group in Oak Brook, Ill.; Dr. T. Clifford Deveny, senior vice president of physician practice management at Catholic Health Initiatives in Denver; and Dr. Stephen Houff, CEO of Cogent HMG, based in Brentwood, Tenn. In an exchange moderated by reporter Andis Robeznieks, the panelists discussed the fast pace of medical practice acquisitions by hospitals and how those hospitals are integrating the practices into their operations.
