HOSPI­TALS, SYS­TEMS Tampa (Fla.) Gen­eral Hospi­tal has made two nurs­ing-re­lated ex­ec­u­tive ap­point­ments, in­clud­ing the pro­mo­tion of Janet Davis to the job of se­nior VP and chief nurs­ing of­fi­cer at the hospi­tal. Davis, 52, for­merly was VP of acute care. The new job is ef­fec­tive im­me­di­ately. Her pre­de­ces­sor in the CNO role was Kathi Sen­gin Katz. Tampa Gen­eral also an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Veron­ica Martin, 41, to the job of VP and as­so­ciate CNO. Martin will re­tain her re­spon­si­bil­i­ties for the hospi­tal’s women’s and chil­dren’s divi­sion, while as­sum­ing a larger role through­out nurs­ing and pa­tient care. … Bruce Chris­tian was named CEO of Ad­ven­tist Glenoaks Hospi­tal, Glen­dale Heights, Ill., af­ter hav­ing served as the hospi­tal’s in­terim leader since July. Chris­tian, 64, pre­vi­ously was pres­i­dent and CEO of Loma Linda Univer­sity Med­i­cal Cen­ter-mur­ri­eta (Calif.) and came to Ad­ven­tist Glenoaks, part of Al­ta­monte Springs, Fla.-based Ad­ven­tist Health Sys­tem, when Brins­ley Lewis left to be pres­i­dent and CEO of Univer­sity Com­mu­nity Hospi­tal-car­roll­wood in Tampa, Fla. ... Elkhart (Ind.) Gen­eral Hospi­tal and Memo­rial Health Sys­tem, South Bend, Ind., named Jeff Costello as CFO of their newly com­bined sys­tem. Costello, 48, joined Memo­rial in 1985 and has served as CFO since 1995. The merger with Elkhart Gen­eral was an­nounced in March and made of­fi­cial in Novem­ber. … St. El­iz­a­beth’s Med­i­cal Cen­ter, Brighton, Mass., hired Nathan How­ell as COO. How­ell, 38, most re­cently was COO for Eas­ton (Pa.) Hospi­tal. At St. El­iz­a­beth’s he re­places Philip Cormier, who left the Stew­ard Health Care Sys­tem hospi­tal in Novem­ber, a hospi­tal spokesman said. IN­FOR­MA­TION TECH­NOL­OGY Peri­gen, an ob­stet­rics in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy com­pany based in Prince­ton, N.J., named Matthew Sap­pern CEO, ef­fec­tive im­me­di­ately. Sap­pern, 45, suc­ceeds Don­ald Deieso, a for­mer chief ex­ec­u­tive of Peri­gen who last year joined Ar­se­nal Cap­i­tal Part­ners, ac­cord­ing to the pri­vate-eq­uity firm’s web­site. Deieso stepped down from Peri­gen in Au­gust 2011, a Peri­gen spokesman said. Peri­gen’s pres­i­dent and CTO, Mike Pritts, had served as in­terim head of the com­pany, the spokesman said. Sap­pern pre­vi­ously was se­nior VP of client sales at Allscripts. QUAL­ITY Roger Hol­stein will suc­ceed Kerry Hicks as CEO of Health­grades, a Den­ver-based health­care ratings com­pany.
