New bureau, staff members for Modern Healthcare
Modern Healthcare is pleased to announce the hiring of a new reporter and a new sales account executive and the opening of a new bureau in the Nashville area, one of the major hubs of the country’s healthcare industry.
“Nashville is home to many of the industry’s leading healthcare companies,” said Fawn Lopez, vice president and publisher of Modern Healthcare. “With Modern Healthcare being the industry’s leading business publication, it’s only natural for us to expand our editorial and sales presence there.”
Beth Kutscher joined Modern Healthcare’s editorial staff Feb. 27. Kutscher, 30, covers for-profit hospitals and chains and other for-profit provider organizations. She’s also the regional reporter for Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Kutscher replaces Vince Galloro, who left in December after 11 years at Modern Healthcare. Galloro, who was based in Chicago, joined the staff of Jarrard Phillips Cate & Hancock, a healthcare public relations firm based in Nashville. Galloro works in the firm’s Chicago office.
Kutscher is a former content editor and reporter for the New York-based Mergermarket Group, covering healthcare. She’s also a former news and online editor for Pharmaceutical Executive and a former deputy news editor and healthcare reporter for Prweek. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Cornell University.

Joining Kutscher in the new bureau and in Modern Healthcare’s sales department is David Baker. Baker, 48, starts March 5 and will be responsible for the publication’s sales operations in the Southwest. He replaces Amy Kalaczynski, who left the staff in September after three years at Modern Healthcare.
Baker’s sales experience includes positions at TW Telecom, AT&T Advertising Solutions and Gannett Co. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting and advertising from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
