Providers’ revenue climbs over 12 months: S&P
Medicare revenue for hospitals and healthcare professionals increased 2.72% during the year ended in February while commercial insurance revenue climbed 7.73%, the Standard & Poor’s Economic Indices show. The economic indices estimate the average per capita change in revenue from fee-for-service Medicare and commercial insurer revenue. Medicare revenue for hospitals increased 1.94% and commercial hospital revenue climbed 8.41% during the 12 months. A composite index for hospitals increased 5.52% during the period. Healthcare professionals saw Medicare revenue grow 3.55% and commercial revenue increased 6.78% for the year ending in February. The composite index for healthcare professionals climbed 5.72%.
