WHAT’S THE FREQUENCY?
The FCC will consider allocating wireless spectrum for medical body area networks, or MBANS
MBANS could share 2,360-2,400 MHZ spectrum band with test pilots. Would provide increased spectrum capacity and reliability for medical manufacturers. Small, low- power sensors on body capture clinical information. A “hub” on or near the body receives the data.
Fetal telemetry: Small, lightweight devices could monitor baby’s health while mother moves freely.
Home care: Pendants worn at home by elderly and chronically ill patients could collect health information.
Predictive and early warning systems: Continuous monitoring across care settings to prevent sudden and acute deterioration in patients.
