Mandate struck down … oh wait. Hold on a minute

Modern Healthcare - - OUTLIERS -

Like everyone else, Outliers was on tenterhooks to find out how the U.S. Supreme Court would rule on the healthcare reform law. But it got a little confusing out there. Just ask the handful of Congress members who initially tweeted that the individual mandate had been struck down.

According to Politico, Reps. Dennis Ross, Aaron Schock, Virginia Foxx, Justin Amash, Tom Rooney, Steven Palazzo, Buck McKeon and Dennis Kucinich were the guilty parties.

Of course, that was likely because CNN and Fox News had a “Dewey defeats Truman” moment, with both initially reporting that the mandate had been struck down before issuing corrections. Outliers can only agree with satirical blog Stuff Journalists Like, which tweeted: “CNN’s misreporting tells me #SCOTUS doesn’t know how to write a lede.”

Try to not make it so complicated next time, OK, Supremes?
