Dignity Health, Vanguard plan to partner on ACO

Modern Healthcare - - LATE NEWS -

Dignity Health, San Francisco, and Vanguard Health Systems, Nashville, said they will seek to form a Medicare accountable care organization in Arizona. The not-for-profit California system, which owns three Arizona hospitals, and for-profit Vanguard, which owns five Arizona hospitals operating as Abrazo Health Care, said they will submit an application to Medicare by the September deadline, according to a joint statement. The partners also intend to create a clinically integrated network and will seek to increase the number of doctors who will participate in the ACO. The deal will help the two health systems respond to “the changing healthcare environment,” according to the statement. “The delivery of healthcare will continue to change and evolve over the next decade,” said Jon Bartlett, Arizona area president for Abrazo.
