Fran Drescher may not have been much for cleaning as “The Nanny,” but now she’s leading the campaign to rid our homes of cancercausing substances.

The actress’s Cancer Schmancer group has joined with health insurer Humana and Grandparents.com to promote the Trash Cancer Party initiative, which encourages people to host get-togethers to wipe out carcinogens and other toxins in their homes.

The trashing parties will be in full swing Sept. 29. Humana is sponsoring 1,000 Trash Cancer Party Kits, which are filled with everything a good hostess would need to clean house, plan games and whip up healthy recipes.

In a news release, Humana cited an article from the journal Pharmaceutical Research stated that more than 90% of cancer cases can be traced to lifestyle and environmental factors.

Drescher started Cancer Schmancer after her own struggle with uterine cancer. The group aims to find ways to prevent cancer and detect it sooner.

Outliers suspects even Mr. Sheffield would be proud.
