Aaron Karjala, CIO for Cover Oregon, the state’s troubled health insurance exchange, resigned April 1.
Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber last month called for replacing Karjala and COO Triz delaRosa when he released a report on Cover Oregon’s troubles. The governor also announced then that Dr. Bruce Goldberg, who served as interim director of Cover Oregon, had resigned as director of the Oregon Health Authority.
Oregon’s website has been plagued with problems. In January, Kitzhaber hired consulting firm First Data Corp. to investigate. Its report found systemic management problems, poor communication, shoddy contracting, and a lack of consensus on who was accountable for ensuring that the project succeeded.
