Dr. Harold Paz, CEO of Penn State Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, will step down and become chief medical officer of health insurer Aetna, effective July 28. He will replace Dr. Lonny Reisman, who left Aetna in April.
Paz, 59, has led the $1.6 billion academic medical center and served as dean of the Penn State College of Medicine since April 2006. He also helped Penn State Hershey finalize a merger in late June with PinnacleHealth, Harrisburg, Pa. Paz was slated to serve as CEO of the new health system. Dr. A. Craig Hillemeier, a pediatric gastroenterologist and director of Penn State Hershey Medical Group, has been named the medical center’s interim CEO.
