Ev­ery sum­mer mil­lions of Amer­i­can chil­dren re­ceive vac­ci­na­tions as re­quired by states for en­try into school. While U.S. im­mu­niza­tion rates re­main high over­all, a sig­nif­i­cant num­ber of par­ents choose not to vac­ci­nate their chil­dren for med­i­cal, re­li­gious or philo­soph­i­cal rea­sons. That has in­creased con­cerns about the po­ten­tial for an out­break of pre­ventable dis­eases in some ar­eas.
