The six most com­monly re­ported rea­sons for not re­ceiv­ing treat­ment for il­licit drug or al­co­hol use among per­sons age 12 or older who needed and per­ceived a need for treat­ment but did not re­ceive treat­ment at a spe­cialty fa­cil­ity:

1 Not ready to stop us­ing 40.4%

2 No health cov­er­age and could not af­ford cost 34%

3 Pos­si­ble neg­a­tive ef­fect on job 12%

Nearly 1 in 4 (23.6%) re­late to stigma

4 Con­cern that re­ceiv­ing treat­ment might cause neigh­bors/com­mu­nity to have a neg­a­tive opin­ion 11.6%

5 Not know­ing where to go for treat­ment 9.1%

6 Had health cov­er­age but it did not cover treat­ment or did not cover cost 7.9%
