HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell has named her chief of staff, Andrea Palm, as a senior counselor—the third such appointee since July. Palm, 41, who has been HHS’ chief of staff since 2013, will keep that role in addition to serving as a senior counselor. As a senior counselor, she will work on “key strategic initiatives” within HHS.
She has been with HHS since President Barack Obama took office. She has worked on the implementation of the healthcare reform law and public health issues, such as compounding pharmacies and the H1N1 pandemic.
