Add another point to editorial: The industry isn’t all ‘market’
I liked the recent editorial “10 reasons why healthcare isn’t a free market” (Dec. 15, p. 30). You forgot one, however: Half of the industry is “market,” while the other half is price-controlled government service. So, even if some of the things mentioned were fixed, how could a provider (hospital or physician) with 20% or more Medicaid compete on price with a similar provider with 5% Medicaid?
