Add another point to ed­i­to­rial: The in­dus­try isn’t all ‘mar­ket’

I liked the re­cent ed­i­to­rial “10 rea­sons why health­care isn’t a free mar­ket” (Dec. 15, p. 30). You for­got one, how­ever: Half of the in­dus­try is “mar­ket,” while the other half is price-con­trolled gov­ern­ment ser­vice. So, even if some of the things men­tioned were fixed, how could a provider (hos­pi­tal or physi­cian) with 20% or more Med­i­caid com­pete on price with a sim­i­lar provider with 5% Med­i­caid?
