Stephen Zie­niewicz has been named pres­i­dent and CEO of St. Barn­abas Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Liv­ingston, N.J., part of West Or­ange, N.J.-based Barn­abas Health.

Zie­niewicz, cur­rently ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the Univer­sity of Washington Med­i­cal Cen­ter, will be­gin his new role on Sept. 8. He re­places Thomas Biga, who has served as in­terim pres­i­dent and CEO since De­cem­ber, when for­mer hos­pi­tal CEO Dr. John Bon­amo was pro­moted to chief med­i­cal of­fi­cer of the Barn­abas sys­tem.

Be­fore join­ing UWMC in 2007, Zie­niewicz was COO at for-profit St. Louis Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal for three years.

Gary Con­ner has been named se­nior VP and CFO at Read­ing Health Sys­tem, based in West Read­ing, Pa.

Con­ner, 60, re­places Rick Jones, who re­signed in Oc­to­ber.

Be­fore join­ing Read­ing, Con­ner was ex­ec­u­tive VP and CFO at South­coast Health Sys­tem in New Bed­ford, Mass. He also served as CFO at Duarte, Calif.based City of Hope can­cer cen­ter, in ad­di­tion to hold­ing var­i­ous se­nior-level po­si­tions at HCA and Catholic Healthcare West, now Dig­nity Health.

The Univer­sity of Con­necti­cut Health Cen­ter, Farm­ing­ton, has pro­moted Ann Marie Capo to chief nurs­ing of­fi­cer and VP for qual­ity and pa­tient ser­vices.

Capo pre­vi­ously served as the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s chief qual­ity and pa­tientsafety of­fi­cer and as­so­ciate VP of clin­i­cal ef­fec­tive­ness and pa­tient safety.

Since start­ing as a neona­tal in­ten­sive­care unit nurse at UConn, Capo has worked her way up through var­i­ous su­per­vi­sory roles.
