J.D. Hickey has been named CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ten­nessee. He re­places Bill Gracey, 61, who has re­tired.

Hickey, 44, has been the Chat­tanoogabased plan’s COO since 2012 and CEO-elect since June. He joined the com­pany in 2011 as CEO of Blue-Care Ten­nessee, the in­surer’s Med­i­caid man­aged-care sub­sidiary.

Be­fore join­ing the in­surer, Hickey was a prin­ci­pal at McKin­sey & Co. and pre­vi­ously served as di­rec­tor of the Ten­nCare Bureau, Ten­nessee’s Med­i­caid pro­gram from 2004 to 2006.

Brian Grif­fin, for­mer pres­i­dent of An­them’s New York health plan, has been named pres­i­dent of An­them’s over­all com­mer­cial and spe­cialty busi­ness. He

Ken Goulet, re­places who is re­tir­ing.

Grif­fin, 56, will over­see An­them’s largest busi­ness line. The com­mer­cial and spe­cialty seg­ment in­cludes An­them’s fully in­sured in­di­vid­ual ex­change, small-group and large-group em­ployer health plans.

Since 2014, Grif­fin has served as pres­i­dent of Em­pire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, an An­them sub­sidiary and the largest health in­surer in New York.
