J.D. Hickey has been named CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee. He replaces Bill Gracey, 61, who has retired.
Hickey, 44, has been the Chattanoogabased plan’s COO since 2012 and CEO-elect since June. He joined the company in 2011 as CEO of Blue-Care Tennessee, the insurer’s Medicaid managed-care subsidiary.
Before joining the insurer, Hickey was a principal at McKinsey & Co. and previously served as director of the TennCare Bureau, Tennessee’s Medicaid program from 2004 to 2006.
Brian Griffin, former president of Anthem’s New York health plan, has been named president of Anthem’s overall commercial and specialty business. He
Ken Goulet, replaces who is retiring.
Griffin, 56, will oversee Anthem’s largest business line. The commercial and specialty segment includes Anthem’s fully insured individual exchange, small-group and large-group employer health plans.
Since 2014, Griffin has served as president of Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, an Anthem subsidiary and the largest health insurer in New York.
