Kirk Adams, long­time healthcare chief for the Ser­vice Em­ploy­ees In­ter­na­tional Union, is leav­ing that role to join the Healthcare Ed­u­ca­tion Pro­ject, a joint ef­fort of the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Work­ers East and the Greater New York Hos­pi­tal As­so­ci­a­tion.

Adams, 65, will help the Healthcare Ed­u­ca­tion Pro­ject ad­dress na­tional healthcare is­sues and pro­tect fed­eral healthcare fund­ing for New York’s hos­pi­tals, nurs­ing homes, home care providers and med­i­cal schools, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease. He be­gins his new du­ties Sept. 14.

Dur­ing Adams’ ten­ure at SEIU, the or­ga­ni­za­tion em­braced part­ner­ships that in­cluded the Healthcare Ed­u­ca­tion Pro­ject and the La­bor Man­age­ment Part­ner­ship be­tween Kaiser Per­ma­nente and 28 union lo­cals.

SEIU has not de­cided who will take over his role, Adams said.
